“Nothing but the best for
our very best friends...”
We rely on your support to save little dogs, and there are plenty of ways to get involved. You could foster a dog, or make a donation to fund our work.
You can also give your time as a volunteer. We need help carrying out home checks, drivers to transport dogs, and support with office tasks too. Every contribution, however small, makes a difference to the dogs.
WE'RE A NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY INTEREST DOG RESCUE
We take in small breeds (and, now and then, larger dogs and cats too) and place them with foster families until they are ready to find their forever homes.

We are hugely grateful to the people who foster our dogs, because they help us save so many more of them. We are always looking for new foster homes, and you could be the one who helps a dog in need.
Fostering is vital work, and we will be there to support you every step of the way.
Our foster carers help assess our rescue dogs, build their confidence, provide training to help each dog re-socialise or learn new skills, and make sure any medical needs are seen to.
Our foster carers come from all walks of life and give plenty of love and support to help our rescues thrive.
Would you like to foster a dog?
Just ask us for the foster form and we will send you a link so you can complete it online.
We will then arrange a home check. If everything is in order, you'll join our list of fosterers. When a dog needs you, we'll bring them to you, along with supplies and support.
We will keep in touch to help you along the way. Our dog expert can advise on training, and we only ever use kind, reward-based methods. We ask you to do the same.
New dogs are posted in Barney's Facebook group, where foster homes share updates so you can get to know each dog.
Once a dog is ready, an adoption notice goes up. If you meet the requirements, you can apply using the link in the post.
Barney's is run entirely by unpaid helpers, and every penny goes towards the dogs. That covers vaccinations, food and beds, and you can imagine what that costs!
Start by completing the online application form. The team reviews it and replies within 10 days. If you aren't matched with a dog, you're welcome to apply again.
If you are chosen, you'll provide the necessary paperwork, we'll carry out a home check, and you'll meet the dog.
Once you've signed the agreement and paid the adoption fee, your new dog can come home with you!
We're grateful for every volunteer who helps with transporting dogs and carrying out home checks, and we are always looking for more.
It isn't only hands-on work either. Support with admin, bid-writing and fundraising makes a real difference to the dogs in our care.
Would you like to help by checking homes or driving dogs?
Just ask for a volunteer form and fill it in.
Would you rather help with office work or raise funds for the dogs?
Email us your CV along with a covering letter.
Tell us how you'd like to help. We'd love to hear from you!
We are always glad to receive donations, whether that's money, food, blankets, collars and leads, coats, or anything else that helps our rescue dogs.
If you have items you'd like to donate, please email us and we'll arrange a collection.
Sometimes, dogs come to us and can't be adopted. This happens for a few reasons. They might be very sick. Or, they might have been hurt before.
These dogs need special, long-term care. They live in foster homes now. They need people to help pay for their care. You can be a sponsor!
“Eddie after his groom today
Sharron
- I’ll never be able to repay you for trusting us in adopting him. He’s amazing."
“Rio now into his 6th month with us and a pleasure it has been to see him change from a very nervous dog to a super friendly and playful dog, thank you Barneys for letting us adopt him.”
“He has settled in brilliantly and keeps us entertained with his antics and mischief every day. It’s hard to believe he has only been with us 4 wks, seems like much longer. Thank you to everyone at Barney’s for choosing us as his forever home and to Cooper for bringing such joy to our family xx”

We help little dogs find new homes. We're based in South Wales, but our helpers are spread across many areas.
We even have some in Birmingham, and we rehome dogs right across the UK. Just get in touch to find out how.
We want the very best homes for our dogs, so we check that you can give them the care they need. We have plenty of helpers,
and every one of them is a volunteer. We work hard for the dogs.
In 2020 we became a special kind of company, and any money we make goes to the dogs. Some of them need long-term care, and that's what the funds are used for.
